French braided side bun

So I tried this one in my sister. Haha! More practice perhaps :)

I ♥ Macarons

I'm just so happy because French Baker has now Macarons! Would you believe it? And it only costs Php108.00 per box which has 3 macarons on it. Cheaper than other pastry shops that sell macarons. Yipee! And because I'm whining like a dolphin, ze boyfriend gave up and finally bought me one. He's so sweet. *_*

Active White Plus Bleaching Cream ~Review

Hayii! So today's review is more of a skincare than a cosmetic. Introducing...*dandadadan!* ActiveWhite Plus Bleaching Cream.

"Active White "BLEACHING CREAM" has a unique natural skin care properties that whitens in just 7 days and helps prevent the signs of premature aging. For best results, use regularly with active white sunblock and other active white beauty products."

Ingredients: 2% Hydroquinone, 0.25% Retin A, Glycerin, Aloe Vera Extract

Comes in a yellowish paste-like form
I bought this last April 4, 2012 with the hopes of making my dark spots lighten, but to no avail. It didn't help even in making it less noticeable. I consumed one jar only and consumed it for less than a month because I have read that products with hydroquinone should not be use for a prolonged period (not more than 6 months). This product contains 2% Hydroquinone so beware of its side effects. It has been banned by the Food and Drug Administration since January 2001 for sale mainly in Europe, Japan, Australia and Asia because of its carcinogenic (cancer-causing) properties causing more damaging hydroquinone hyperpigmentation. [Source: http://www.skin-whitening-product.com/hydroquinone-side-effects.html

Pros:
  • inexpensive (it retails for Php179.75 but I got it for Php161.75)
  • dermatologically tested
  • somehow softens the skin
  • the scent! mabango for me :)
Cons:
  • didn't deliver its promise (whitens in just 7 days)
  • didn't help in lightening dark spots (maybe I should use it continuously?)
  • contains hydroquinone
  • hard to find (some ActiveWhite stalls don't have it)
Will I repurchase? Hmm, maybe? Or maybe I'll go find another one. :)

Rating: 2.5/5

PS: What might work for me may not work for you and vice versa. We all have different skin types. Might as well consult your dermatologist first before anything else, just for your safety. :)

Crochet is Love

This is what I wore last May 13, '12, our Mother's Day celebration. Don't you just love the crochet shorts? It really makes every outfit dainty. I'm currently obsessing over this one.

Anyhoo, belated Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there! May you have all the blessings in the world. And to my Mom, thank you. Seeing you just makes me realize how fortunate I am. You will always be the best, or should I say, the coolest mom in the world. :) I love you Mama.

Let's celebrate L.O.V.E

Preparing...

Curlformers!

Went to Banchetto, Metrowalk last May 11, 2012 to celebrate our love day. It's been 4 years and 4 months and here we are, standing strong and holding on. I really love this man. He's so understanding to the point that I somehow get abusive, haha! And what I like the most is his calmness. Whenever I panic (oh yes I easily shake and get nervous!), he'll just rub his hand gently on my back to assure that everything's gonna be fine. I love you Martin. You are such a blessing.

Revlon Nail Polish in Cherries in the Snow ~ Review

I stumbled upon this nail polish when I was looking for Hair Dyes. It is the Revlon Nail Polish Cherries in the Snow which has this luxurious fuchsia red in color that is really classy!

This nail enamel is a part of the Cherries in the Snow line that originated since 1953. It also has a matching lip stick which I really want to try. Truly stands the test of time.

 Pros
  • glides smoothly
  • dries quickly
  • one coat is enough because of its pigmented formulation
  • doesn't have an overwhelming smell
  • no bumps when applied
Cons
  • wears off easily
  • expensive (good thing that I got it free!)

Overall Rating: 4/5

Elf Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in Luminance

Hello dearies! Today I'm gonna share with you a little secret to having a healthy glow. Love that? Me too. :) Well, I seemed so preoccupied with the thought of investing on a good highlighting powder that will really last for, let's just say, a good 8 hours. Then I saw Etude House' Face Designing Brightener which has good reviews. But you know, when you really want something, it's just sometimes, (or for me most of the time :| ) , tends to be mailap. It's always out of stock! Then I saw this bronzing powder from Elf which is the Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in Luminance. Okay, so I was shocked when it only costs Php 129.75. Seriously?? And yes, I definitely bought this one because of its cheap price.

Simple packaging

Instantly beautiful, healthy-looking skin designed, formulated and tested by our professional team of makeup artists.” -Elf

 How cool is that? Hihi

Close up

This product is more of a highlighting powder rather than a bronzer in my own opinion. Hence, there are also two other shades which are most likely to be the accurate bronzer: Sun Kissed and Warm Tan (both are of darker shades).

Pros:
  • not too shimmery
  • gives a really healthy glow
  • sheer coverage
  • easy to apply
  • complements any skin tone
  • decent staying power (can last up to 6 hours or so)
  • available at all Elf counters at Watsons and most department stores (bought mine at Robinsons Metro   East)
  • super cheap for a good product (Php129.75)
Cons:
  • brush not included
  • no mirror attached
  • brittle packaging
  • can get chalky if applied heavily

Overall rating: 4.5/5

What are your thoughts about it? Share! :)

Revlon Marble-ous Match Liner/ Shadow Duo in Steel-ing Beauty

Revlon Marble-ous Match Liner/Shadow Duo is a two-in-one pencil were one side is a marbleized eyeliner and the other is a cream eyeshadow. It is a part of the 2008 Limited Edition Collection which I got on sale last April 5, 2012 in a Revlon mini stand. I think it retails for around Php 800+ but I got it for Php285.00. Such a steal right? I got the Steel-ing Beauty which has a lovely metallic sheen with a lavender hue (eye shadow) on the side and a swirling almost black shade that has two contrasting colors (liner) that blend easily.

So here's the look. I used the pencil in my upper lash line and the cream shadow on my lids.

You can blend, layer, and smudge to create a multitude of eye looks with this. However, it only lasts for 4-5 hours and budges most of the time. Maybe due to the tropical climate we have or my oily eyelids, or both? A good primer is really recommended so it won't be easily worn off. Overall, I think this is a good product that lets you all prepped up with just one tool. It also comes in 4 other shades:
  • Set in the Nude
  • Sassy Brassy
  • Orchid You Not
  • Made for Jade

Glad I bought this one. :)
